Physical description
Large hanging with a central vertical seam. The pattern is arranged in three sections. Across the top is a broad border consisting of bands of key frets, small dragons and dragons with phoenixes. The main field of the textile consists of large flower and foliage bands, while across the bottom is a narrow border of key-fret and small dragon bands. The ground of the textile is red satin waeve silk and this is weft-patterned in various colours. There is a supplementary warp to bind the pattern wefts. The hanging is lined with beige plain weave cotton.
There is a small handwritten paper label stuck on one corner of the lining. Next to the paper label are two red characters stamped straight onto the lining
