Physical description Panel or wall hanging of red tapestry weave (kesi) silk. The panel is in a horseshoe shape with an overlapping top border. In the centre of the panel is a fronted four-clawed dragon with a jewel. Four other four-clawed dragons in profile are disposed around while another issues from the waves at the base of either side of the horseshoe. The ground is sparsely scattered with clouds, bats and flowers (such as tree peonies and plum blossoms). There is a narrow border surrounding the whole panel with a meander pattern in gold on blue. The top border has three red roundels on a gold ground. The roundels contain scenes depicting 'Filial Piety' stories. Between the roundels are the symbols of the Eight Taoist Immortals. The top border is edged with the same meander pattern as the lower panel. Above this top border is a blue cotton strip 4 inches deep.
