Physical description Hanging panel of embroidered red satin in coloured silks (mostly green, blue, black and white, with touches of red, pink and yellow), and silver-gilt thread in satin and stem stitches and laid and couched work. Lined with pink cotton. Embroidered with two of the Stories of filial piety. At the top is Yang Hiang, said to have lived during the Han dynasty. When fourteen years old and in the fields, he saw a tiger about to attack his father, whereupon he threw himself under the talons of the beast and thus enabled his father to escape by the sacrifice of his own life. Below is Kiang Keh. A scholar and official of the Ts'i dynasty c. AD 490.
