Green Lampas Weave Brocade China Ming period, 15th century CE 26 inches x 13.25 inches (66 cm x 33 cm) Heavy lampas weave brocades were used to make chair cushions and carpets. This fragment, found in Tibet, has a complicated floral scroll design suggesting it was a court weaving, probably sent to Tibet as a gift to the head of a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. That this fragment has remained in such good condition suggests it may have been used for several years, then put away and left in storage until some years ago. Radiocarbon dated: Beta Analytic, Beta-28616: 1414 AD - 1636 AD
